Our Story

When I started wearing the abaya after graduating high school, finding the right one was a struggle. Online shopping was still uncommon and local stores were non-existent, making annual conventions my only real choice. In addition, the range of styles were limited: either overly embellished or too plain. I was searching for abayas that were modest yet elegant, simple but had character and color. 

My first real encounter with abaya culture came when I visited my in-laws in Qatar. I felt like a kid in a candy store at the Souq, and got to design abayas that I have always yearned for but struggled to find. I couldn’t help but think about sharing the joy with my family and friends.

Over the past decade, I have worn abayas across different countries, climates, and activities. Having experienced the challenges of wearing an abaya in various contexts, I wanted to create a brand that not only provides beautiful abayas but also makes them more accessible & wearable for women in the West.

My Vision with Firdows Couture

Firdows Couture was born from a desire to fill a gap in the modest fashion industry. Too often, abayas are either too form-fitting or see-through. And modest options are often uninspired and lacking in personality. I wanted to create pieces that allow for a balanced elegance while still adhering to our Islamic values, and ultimately contribute to making abaya-wearing a norm in the West.

Design Philosophy

We use premium and wrinkle-resistant fabrics that stand the test of time. Our designs feature simple handwork that adds elegance without being too eye-catching, making them versatile for various occasions. We’ve incorporated thoughtful details like wudu-friendly sleeves and high necklines for reliable coverage and comfort. To achieve the highest standards of modesty, our abayas have an oversized fit and are made from opaque fabrics. 

Whether you are just beginning your modest fashion journey or have been wearing abayas for years, we provide a range of styles to suit every occasion. By focusing on color and texture rather than heavy embellishments, we create timeless, everyday wear that extends beyond Ramadan—making the abaya not just a seasonal choice but a true wardrobe staple.
